June 6 – Construction of the shield tunnel between the Shiqiao North Station and  Panyu Square, one of the toughest works on Metro Line 3, was finally completed today. Thus far, all tunnels on Metro Line 3 have been connected, paving the way for the opening of the line by the end of the year.

    According to the metro company, the shield structure between the Shiqiao North Station and Panyu Square is the longest single structure on Metro Line 3, with a length of about 9.5 kilometers. It is also the largest and toughest work in Guangzhou's metro construction.
