THE Pearl River Tour Plan has been submitted to Guangzhou Municipal government for approval, one source told Nanfang Daily reporter on June 1. The date of the tour is provisionally set for June 12, but may change according to the  weather.

    Guangzhou has completed the Pearl River comprehensive management work of "obtaining primary effects in one year, eliminating odor and black color in three years", put forward by the CPC Guangdong Committee and the Provincial Government. Now Guangzhou is making efforts to achieve the goal of "having clear water in 8 years".

    In 2005, the qualification rate of surface water in Guangzhou reached 100 percent. By the end of 2005, 56 river sections had been dredged and the pollution sources of 27 river sections had been stopped.
