Yangchengtong, a payment card used in Guangzhou public transport services, can be used in all of the city's cinemas later this month.

    Audiences will be required only to swipe their cards at the ticket booth in order to gain access to the cinema.

    As a result, local cinemas are expected to see their audiences grow by at least 10 per cent.

    Guangzhou will be the first place in Guangdong Province to allow audiences to use the cards to buy cinema tickets.
